The Walled Garden now open on Sundays

A Doncaster garden centre which provides support to people with mental health needs and learning disabilities is to start opening on Sundays.

The Walled Garden at St Catherine’s, Balby, will open from 11am until 4pm from Sunday, May 5, throughout the summer until mid-September.  The Garden Café will also be open on Sundays until 3.30pm.

The garden centre is part of Flourish Enterprises – a developing social enterprise providing work experience for people with mental health needs and learning difficulties – and is run by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH).

RDaSH social enterprises project manager Mike Rysak said:

“Everyone is invited along. It’s a great opportunity to bring family and friends for a stroll around the pleasant grounds of St Catherines and the Walled Garden – which is steeped in Victorian history.

“During this period our own home grown fruit and vegetables will be available - and you can ‘pick it yourself’. There will also be hanging baskets, bedding plants, shrubs, herbs and bedding plants on sale as well as a range of giftware in the Walled Garden shop.”

All profits generated in the garden are reinvested into the project.

The Walled Garden is also open to the public on weekdays: Mondays between 10am and 4pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am to 4pm and Fridays between 9am and 3pm.
