Thorne Brewery CIC

Thorne Brewery Community Interest Company was created to brew real ale again in Thorne following in the tradition of Darleys Brewery which stopped brewing in 1986. This will create employment and training opportunities for local people by trading as a real ale brewery and visitor centre.

Soon £100,000 in £100 shares will be made available to members of the public and subject to profitable trading, a dividend will be paid in beer! As a Community Interest Company, apart from a modest dividend paid to the community shareholders, any remaining trading profits will be ploughed back into the Company and or Community.

Chief Executive Manager Mark Burton will be working full time from the Company's permanent premises at Thorne Enterprise Park.

The initial programme of work will be centred on getting the full funding package in place and preliminary marketing. Once this is done, brewing equipment will be purchased and a small number of staff appointed, including an experienced brewer. The current aim is to be brewing by October 2008.

The Company has already established links/membership of the following organisations:

Society of Independent Brewers - SIBA

CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale

Doncaster Chamber.

Doncaster CSEP (Community and Social Enterprise Partnership)

Yorkshire and Humber Regional Food Group.

Humberhead Levels Green Tourism Forum
